State v. T.C.

Charge: DUI with Minor Passenger (Enhanced), Refusal to Submit to Testing (Subsequent Offense), Hit and Run, and Bribery of a Public Official
Palm Beach County
March 2026
state
Worst Case Scenario:
Multiple felony convictions including bribery of a public official and hit and run — potential state prison sentence and permanent criminal record
Actual Results:
Felony bribery and hit and run charges completely no-filed — resolved on two misdemeanors only with no jail time

Arrested For:

DUI with Passenger Under 18 Years of Age (Enhanced), Refusal to Submit to Testing (Subsequent Offense), Hit and Run, and Bribery of a Public Official

What Was Done:

The client was involved in a single-car crash and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Witnesses placed him behind the wheel. He was located nearby with physical indicators of impairment and refused the breath test. While in the patrol car, he made an unsolicited statement to the arresting officer asking whether charges could be dropped in exchange for money, resulting in an additional felony bribery charge. Two of his children, ages four and six, had been passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Unique Approach:

Despite the number and severity of charges, counsel negotiated a resolution that eliminated every felony. The bribery charge and hit and run were both no-filed by the State. The case resolved on the two misdemeanor counts only, with no incarceration. The client walked away without a felony conviction, without prison exposure, and without the career-ending consequences a bribery conviction would have carried.
